We welcome you to experience a typical African Village life in a comfortable and friendly family lodge. The lodge is situated around an oasis garden on the outskirts of the village of Gunjur close to the beach. There is an opportunity to learn about the local culture , and enjoy fresh local produce such as fresh tropical fruit and fish freshly caught. You can try the local palm wine collected daily from the nearby palm trees.
Other activities are Bird watching, visiting the nearby Gambian villages or see the sacred crocodile pool in Kartong Village.

Getting Here
The lodge is located in Gunjur Kombo South, Western Division. This is in the southern part of the Gambia about 42km from the capital BANJUL . By car taxi or local "bush" taxi take the road to Brikarna and then continue onto GunJUR.
When you arrive in Gunjur take the road leading to Berending. You will find the lodge on the outskirts of Gunjur.

What to bring
Certain items are difficult to obtain in the rural areas, but are obtainable in the urban areas. Items such as sun cream , insect repellent are available in the urban areas. But don't forget to bring your own medication with you !
You should bring a torch as we use candles and Hurricane Lamps. Travellers cheques , Sterling and Dollars can be exchanged in Brikama or Seerekunda. Let us know if you are on a special diet.
We ask you to dress modestly when walking aroud the village and nearby holy sites. Women should take care to cover their thighs. Short mini skirts or shorts in public are not to be worn as the Gambia is a predominatly Muslim.

CLIMATE
The cool season is September/October through to April/May with comfortable tempreatures of 20c and long sunny days with the cool sea breezes. The rainy season begins in June through to September when it is very hot and humid. But you are free to visit us all the year round.
